Yours for the taking

Have you ever been on the receiving end of any of these comments?

  • You should just get a “real job” at a “real company”
  • Don’t move there, it’s too far from your friends and family
  • That doesn’t sound like a profitable idea
  • You should wait until…
  • You don’t have enough experience

Trust me, I’ve heard them all multiple times!

I think it’s just part of what comes with this creative life we choose to live.

We should feel so lucky that we have such a strong passion/talent that we’re willing to chase… right!?

Easier said than done. That’s for sure.

I’m coming up on my 7 year anniversary of moving to Nashville (see self-timer picture of me in front of the skyline days after getting to Nashville) and it’s got me thinking about how far I’ve come since 2011.

My parents actually told me, “we love you, but you can’t come home after college.” They didn’t want to provide me a safety net because they wanted me to have to push my comfort zone and do my own thing (if you’re reading this… thanks, mom and dad)!

And that’s the message I want to share with you today!

Whether you’re coming up on your own graduation or you’re already putting your heart and soul into your music career…

You know what’s best for you.
Don’t let others’ insecurities hold you back.
If you want something, go get it!
It’s yours for the taking!
It takes hard work, but you can do that.
After all, it’s work that you love!

“If you can dream it, you can do it.” - Walt Disney

I came to Nashville the day after I graduated because I was SO ready to dive in and start my life in Music City. I had no friends, no job, no smart phone/GPS, no place to live, and no knowledge of the music industry… I guess you could say I turned out alright

Put in the work every day. Don’t let others discourage you. And keep going. The extra mile is never crowded.

One more thing... I hope you know that I'm always here to cheer you on and help you get to that next level in your career!
